Southern AgCredit Stockholders Elect New Directors
Stockholders of Southern AgCredit re-elected Brad Bean, John "Van" Bennett and Thomas C. Hall, and elected James T. Hollingsworth to serve on the association board of directors.
Brad C. Bean, Liberty, Miss.
Brad C. Bean owns Bean Holstein Farm, a 270-cow operation, and also
has pine timber on a 1,000-acre farm. He was elected to the Southern
AgCredit board in 1993, and has served as the chairman since 2000. In
addition, Bean serves as president of the Amite County Farm Bureau;
director of Amite County Co-op; and secretary-treasurer of ADA of
Mississippi, an agency that promotes dairy products. He is the vice
chairman of the Farm Credit Bank of Texas Stockholders Advisory
Committee and is a member of the Tenth District Farm Credit Council.
John "Van" Bennett, Spearsville, La.
John “Van” Bennett and his family own a 300-acre cattle and timber farm. He
previously served on the Louisiana Ag Credit Board of Directors from 2008 to
2010, after a 30-year career with the association that ended with his retirement in
2006. Bennett and his wife publish a monthly agricultural magazine, Ag Trader
USA, and he is active in many agricultural and civic organizations, including the
Union Cattlemen’s Association, the Louisiana Poultry Task Force, Union Parish
Farm Bureau, and the Louisiana Farm Bureau poultry and livestock advisory
boards.
Thomas C. Hall, Gloster, La.
Thomas C. Hall owns a 600-acre farm, and raises commercial beef cattle and
pine timber. A former dairy farmer, Hall also manages a family-owned property
corporation, which includes the development of a residential subdivision and the
leasing of family row-crop property. He previously served on the Louisiana Ag
Credit Board of Directors from 1996 to 2010, including four years as chairman
(2006-2010). Hall also is a director of the Keatchie Water Association and the
Keatchie Farm Bureau.
James T. Hollingsworth, Hollanddale, Miss.
James T. Hollingsworth farms rice, soybeans and corn in Washington and
Sharkey counties with his son, Tom Hollingsworth. He serves on the board
of directors of Farmers Grain, Inc., a grain marketing cooperative. He is
also a director of Baptist Children’s Village of Jackson, Miss., and Murphy
Bayou Drainage.
